Paste or type text for a live character count with progress against Twitter/X, meta, and SMS limits. Everything runs in your browser.
Your text never leaves your device — all counting happens locally.
This character counter gives a live count of characters with and without spaces and words, plus live indicators showing how your text measures against Twitter/X, meta description, meta title, and SMS limits.
Yes, and it shows both totals. Characters with spaces counts every character including spaces and line breaks, while characters without spaces strips all whitespace first. For 'hello world' that is 11 characters with spaces and 9 without.
It tracks four common limits live: Twitter/X posts at 280 characters, meta descriptions at 160, meta titles at 60, and a single SMS segment at 160. Each shows the count, the remaining characters, and turns red when you go over.
Search engines truncate descriptions that run past roughly 160 characters, so the end of a long description never appears in results. Keeping under the 160 limit shown here helps your full snippet display and read cleanly.
