What is a Morse code translator? A Morse code translator converts ordinary text into dots and dashes, or decodes dots and dashes back into text. This one supports letters, numbers, and common punctuation, and can play the result as audio beeps.
Morse code is a system that represents letters, numbers, and punctuation as sequences of short signals (dots) and long signals (dashes). It was developed for early telegraph communication and is still used in aviation, amateur radio, and accessibility.
Type your text and the translator converts each letter and number into dots and dashes. Letters within a word are separated by a single space, and words are separated by a slash, so SOS becomes ... --- ... and the spacing stays readable.
SOS in Morse code is ... --- ... — three dots, three dashes, three dots. It is the internationally recognised distress signal because the pattern is simple and unmistakable.
Paste Morse code with a space between each letter and a slash between words, then switch to decode. The translator looks up each dot-and-dash group and rebuilds the original text. It is case-insensitive and ignores extra spacing.
