What is a BMR calculator? A BMR calculator estimates the calories your body needs at complete rest to keep its basic functions running, based on your sex, age, height and weight.
BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate. It is the number of calories your body needs to perform its most basic life-sustaining functions — like breathing, circulation and cell production — while completely at rest.
This tool uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. For men: BMR = 10 × weight in kg + 6.25 × height in cm − 5 × age + 5. For women: BMR = 10 × weight in kg + 6.25 × height in cm − 5 × age − 161.
BMR is the calories you burn at complete rest. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is your BMR multiplied by an activity factor, which accounts for movement and exercise. TDEE is always higher than BMR.
